Mikel Arteta has reached an agreement with Arsenal over a new long-term contract.
The Spaniard’s contract at the Emirates was set to expire at the end of the current season.
However, negotiations between the parties over a new and improved deal have been ongoing for several months.
Arteta has stated on numerous occasions during the summer that he will extend his Arsenal contract, with everyone at the club aligned over their ambitions for the future.

BBC Sport reported earlier in September that an agreement was close to being reached.
Now, a fresh contract has been agreed between all parties.

Mikel Arteta finally agrees new Arsenal contract

BBC’s Sami Mokbel exclusively reports that Mikel Arteta has reached a final agreement with Arsenal over a new long-term contract.
It remains unclear how long the 44-year-old’s new deal will run for, but it is expected to take Arteta into at least his 10th year in north London.

His current salary, around £10m per year plus £5m in bonuses, will also be increased.
The bigger picture
Arsenal’s recruitment team continues to focus on players who fit the club’s long-term strategy under Mikel Arteta. Technical quality, tactical intelligence and versatility remain key attributes as the club assesses potential additions ahead of the new campaign.
The club has consistently looked to add players capable of improving both the starting XI and overall squad depth, particularly with the demands of competing in the Premier League and Champions League. Arsenal are expected to strengthen multiple areas of the squad this summer and continue to monitor opportunities across Europe and South America.
Arsenal are expected to make several important decisions regarding the composition of the squad. While strengthening key areas remains a priority, the club could also consider offers for certain players if it helps fund new arrivals and maintain financial flexibility.
Securing the futures of key players remains just as important as making new signings. Arsenal have worked hard to build one of the strongest squads in Europe, and maintaining stability within the group will be crucial as the club looks to continue competing for major honours.
Our View
Tying down Mikel Arteta to a new long-term contract has been Arsenal’s biggest priority. Now it seems like there is only a matter of time before his new deal is announced.
This comes as a major boost for Arsenal and everyone connected to the club, as full focus now can shift to the current season and to what is happening on the pitch.
