£300m Summer War Chest: Could Pablo Barrios Be Arsenal’s First Signing?

With a reported war chest of £300m, coupled with the imminent arrival of Andrea Berta, an exciting summer surely awaits the Gooners. Given the disappointments of the current campaign, this will undoubtedly serve as a form of copium.

Strengthening the midfield should be a top priority this summer, including the forward areas. This is justifiable, as the midfield duo of Thomas Partey and Jorginho will most likely not be at the club by the start of next season. With this in mind, along with the fact that our midfield is already a bit light at the moment, the Gunners should ideally look to sign two midfielders.

One of those players could be Atlético Madrid's Pablo Barrios, and Berta could prove instrumental in securing his signing. According to TBR Football, Andrea Berta shares the club's admiration for the player, having already worked closely with the Spaniard during his time at Atlético.

However, Barrios won't come cheap. With a €100m release clause in his current deal, he would represent a potentially risky investment—if we do decide to pull the trigger!
