Real Madrid are reportedly considering a summer move for Arsenal-bound Martin Zubimendi.

Back in January, reliable journalist Sami Mokbel reported in the Daily Mail that Arsenal were set to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder this summer, with a deal essentially completed.

The expectation remains that Zubimendi will join Arsenal, but fresh reports from Spain suggest the Gunners could now face late competition.

According to Diario AS journalist Sergio Lopez, Real Madrid have expressed interest in a potential move for the 26-year-old.

Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen on adding more Spanish players to his squad, with Zubimendi identified as a possible target.

Time will tell whether Arsenal could face a frustrating late hijack attempt from arguably one of the world's biggest clubs.

As things stand, Arsenal remain confident of securing the Spain international's signature, having closely monitored him for more than a year.
